UNIC Beirut is committed to finding new ways to connect with young Lebanese and Arab athletes and convey their aspirations, challenges and experiences. The release of #TheUrbanAthletePodcast on the occasion of International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is another step in this direction.
Hosted by 2019 Wushu World Champion Michel Zammar, the Arabic series tackles how the practice of physical activity is a fundamental right for all and how it contributes to education, human development, and healthy lifestyles.
It also aims at influencing behaviors and galvanizing action within sports, as well as inspiring people to consider sports as a valuable tool to overcome any obstacle or crisis.
The new podcast, which features 12 episodes, will address pressing challenges in the field of sports and share top-tier insights.
The first episode is now online and focuses on the role of sports in improving mental health. One viewer commented, saying: “I don’t remember anything being this inspiring since the internet launched in the first place.”
In her turn, UNIC Beirut Director Margo Helou highlighted the importance of sports and how it has played a crucial role in all societies and acted as a strong communication platform that can be used to promote a culture of peace and encourage social inclusion.
