The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Tripoli and North Lebanon Chamber of Commerce (CCIAT) this week inaugurated an online platform to support Lebanese exporters in Tripoli, according to a press release published on the UNDP website.

The platform, called Al Ghorfa Export and accessible via a dedicated website, will be managed by the CCIAT. It is "designed to enhance business operations and expand market access amidst Lebanon's challenges, this platform aims to empower Lebanese MSMEs to reach international markets," according to the press release.

According to the press release, the platform offers "e-learning materials and essential business information, facilitates networking among stakeholders, supports business registration, and aids in marketing efforts to access additional markets." No further operational details on how the platform will function have been released.

The launch of this platform is part of UNDP and CCIAT initiatives to support businesses in North Lebanon and Akkar, whose potential is curtailed by "weak infrastructure, limited finance access, and inadequate business support for MSMEs," according to the UNDP. The city of Tripoli has the country's second largest port, the only one other than Beirut equipped to handle container ships.
