The Secretary-General met with H.M. King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Secretary-General reiterated his appreciation for Jordan's generosity in hosting the third-largest Syrian refugee population in the region, as well as for His Majesty's personal engagement towards the de-escalation of tensions in the Old City of Jerusalem during the month of July. The Secretary-General and H.M. King Abdullah II discussed the Middle East Peace Process, ongoing efforts for the resolution of the conflict in Syria, in light of its humanitarian consequences, and the broader situation in the region.
